College and Career Readiness
To be College Ready a student must meet or exceed all three ACT Benchmarks:
18 ACT English
19 ACT Math
20 ACT Reading
A student may substitute a COMPASS or KYOTE benchmark in the place of one or more ACT exam benchmarks.
COMPAS Benchmarks are as follows: 74 English, 36 Math, 85 Reading
KYOTE Benchmarks are as follows: 20 English, 22 Math, 20 Reading
To be Career Ready a student must complete the following:
1. A student must select a career major and pass three (3) classes in that career pathway.
2. The student must pass a skills test (KOSSA) or earn an Industry Certificate in that pathway.
3. A student must meet the Academic Benchmarks on the ASVAB.
Need ONE to be Career Ready:
ACT Benchmarks are as follows: 18 English, 19 Math, 20 Reading
WORK KEYS Benchmarks are as follows: 4+ Locating Information, 4+ Applied Math, 4+ Reading for Information (Must pass all three).
ASVAB Benchmark score of a 50 or more
BCPS students can take the ACT Work Keys Exam to demonstrate career ready skills in reading, applied math, and locating information. Students can earn a National Career Ready Certification (NCRC) that business and industry look for during the hiring process. All 6's earn a platinum certificate, 5's earn a gold certificate, 4's earn a silver certificate. In order to meet the academic requirement for career readiness a student must earn all 4's or a silver certification or better.
